CICE
— Goal
To design an accessible, interactive e-learning experience that supports students with intellectual disabilities in developing essential life and financial literacy skills within Humber’s CICE (Community Integration through Co-operative Education) program.
— Challenge
To curate an interactive design experience to simplify complex financial concepts like using cheques, identifying coins, and paying bills in a user-centered and engaging format tailored to diverse learning needs.
— Strategy & Design Process
Collaborated with subject-matter experts, understand the unique experience and needs of user andapplied UX/UI principles to create intuitive, visually guided interactions with clear instructions, repetition, and feedback to support independent learning and retention.
Developed custom visual assets, accessible layouts, and interactive Storyline modules informed by user testing and inclusive design standards to ensure clarity and ease of use.
— Result
I deepened my understanding of inclusive design and learned how to combine empathy, accessibility, and interaction design through an iterative process. The course was very well-received by faculty, learners and their parents, praised for its clarity and inclusivity, and integrated into the curriculum as a crucial support for student independence.
